Responsibilities
- Design, write, and maintain observability code and features for MongoDB Atlas.
- Contribute to and lead complex technical projects.
- Investigate large-scale distributed production issues.
- Collaborate on the codebase, best practices, and design principles.
- Work with customers and support engineers to resolve issues.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and support customers during escalations.
- Mentor junior team members.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a backend or full-stack engineer.
- Backend engineering experience with willingness to take on frontend tasks, or full-stack experience with a backend focus.
- Experience writing backend systems in a compiled language such as Java, C#, or Go.
- Experience designing and architecting modern, scalable web applications.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging production issues in distributed environments.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and time and space complexity.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and maintain curiosity and up-to-date technical knowledge.
- Preferred experience with distributed event streaming platforms such as Kafka or WarpStream and event processing platforms such as Flink.
- Preferred experience developing observability tools.
- Preferred experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js, particularly maintaining dependency ecosystems.
- Preferred knowledge of database internals, indexing, and tuning mechanisms.
