Responsibilities

  • Design, write, and maintain observability code and features for MongoDB Atlas.
  • Contribute to and lead complex technical projects.
  • Investigate large-scale distributed production issues.
  • Collaborate on the codebase, best practices, and design principles.
  • Work with customers and support engineers to resolve issues.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and support customers during escalations.
  • Mentor junior team members.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a backend or full-stack engineer.
  • Backend engineering experience with willingness to take on frontend tasks, or full-stack experience with a backend focus.
  • Experience writing backend systems in a compiled language such as Java, C#, or Go.
  • Experience designing and architecting modern, scalable web applications.
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging production issues in distributed environments.
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and time and space complexity.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and maintain curiosity and up-to-date technical knowledge.
  • Preferred experience with distributed event streaming platforms such as Kafka or WarpStream and event processing platforms such as Flink.
  • Preferred experience developing observability tools.
  • Preferred experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js, particularly maintaining dependency ecosystems.
  • Preferred knowledge of database internals, indexing, and tuning mechanisms.
