Base Salary
$240k - $310k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the long-term technical strategy and roadmap for Crusoe’s storage engine and V2 storage re-architecture.
- Architect and implement storage solutions using NFS, SMB, iSCSI, and NVMe/TCP.
- Lead open-source stewardship and contributions involving technologies such as Ceph, GlusterFS, Lustre, Spectrum Scale, and OpenEBS.
- Serve as the final technical authority for architecture decisions across the Foundations organization and lead cross-disciplinary design reviews.
- Lead tiger teams addressing kernel-level I/O context switching, distributed-cluster tail latency, and other difficult performance bottlenecks.
- Align storage capabilities with business milestones through collaboration with executive leadership and Product.
- Champion engineering initiatives such as technical talks and technical reading groups.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience building and operating large-scale, complex distributed cloud computing infrastructure products.
- Proven system programming experience with C, C++, Go, and/or Rust.
- Expertise with cloud storage, distributed state, data protection, consistency, durability, troubleshooting, and performance tuning at petabyte scale.
- Experience profiling and optimizing the full I/O path and leading complex architecture and design decisions.
- Mastery of professional software engineering practices across coding standards, build processes, testing, and the full SDLC.
- Ability to lead initiatives across the engineering organization and collaborate with executive leadership and Product.
- Preferred advanced degree, such as a Master’s or PhD, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Bonus experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI, AI/ML frameworks, MLOps, DAOS, SPDK, RDMA, SmartNICs, RoCEv2, Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis, or Kafka.
