Base Salary
$120k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build major agentic platform components covering orchestration, tools and skills, grounding, evaluations, observability, and model routing.
- Own features and architectural components end to end from prototype through production.
- Collaborate with AI Foundry, Microsoft Research, Substrate, and Copilot teams using shared agent SDKs, evaluation harnesses, content-safety capabilities, and telemetry.
- Contribute to production-grade evaluation and Responsible AI standards for agent capabilities.
- Raise engineering quality through code reviews, design reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with one or more programming languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to pass Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred experience with C#, TypeScript, and Python, ideally across all three.
- Preferred experience owning and shipping significant features or architectural components end to end.
- Preferred 1+ year of production experience shipping LLM-based or agent-based systems, including evaluations, observability, and debugging.
- Preferred production experience with agent stacks such as Microsoft 365 Agents SDK, AutoGen, Magentic-One, LangGraph, OpenAI Agents SDK, Anthropic SDK with MCP, or Semantic Kernel.
- Preferred proficiency with agent harnesses, coding agents, Markdown specifications, ADRs, YAML configurations, multi-step agentic workflows, and reviewing agent-generated code and pull requests.
- Preferred experience standing up evaluations or observability for nondeterministic systems and contributing to multi-tenant safety, prompt-injection defenses, and audit trails.
- Public artifacts such as shipped side projects, open-source contributions, technical writing, or talks are preferred.
Benefits
- The stated U.S. base-pay range is USD $119,800–$234,700 per year, with a separate USD $160,200–$261,000 annual range for specific San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area locations.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position is open for at least five days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
