Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, high-performance frontend and backend features across the stack.
- Drive high-impact engineering initiatives and align technical solutions with business and reliability requirements.
- Design and implement microservices and large-scale distributed systems using event-driven architecture and Kafka.
- Scale the production Ruby on Rails environment while architecting greenfield components for the future technology stack.
- Write maintainable code and promote testing, performance, observability, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers on development practices and complex system design.
- Participate in monitoring, incident response, production support, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, customers, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience developing production-grade applications with Ruby on Rails, Python, and/or Node.js.
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating microservices and large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of event-driven architecture; hands-on Kafka experience is highly valued.
- Experience building frontend applications with Vue.js or React and TypeScript.
- Proficiency in MySQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
- Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- Deep understanding of data structures, distributed systems, and system design principles.
- Strong communication, collaboration, technical leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Experience integrating SDKs and APIs into web applications.
- Exposure to DevOps tooling and practices, including GitHub Actions, observability, and SonarQube.
- Prior experience in fast-paced, product-focused environments or the maritime/logistics domain.
