Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, reliability, roadmap, operations, and end-to-end delivery of an observability or CI/CD platform area.
- Design and implement scalable platform architecture, including topology, integrations, scaling approaches, and reliability models.
- Support developers deploying and monitoring applications on on-premise servers and Kubernetes, and troubleshoot builds, deployments, metrics, alerts, and logs.
- Automate repetitive operations, provisioning, and maintenance.
- Investigate production incidents as the senior escalation point, participate in on-call rotations, lead post-mortems, and implement systemic fixes.
- Mentor less experienced engineers through design discussions, reviews, and pairing, while identifying debt-inducing shortcuts.
- Use AI for research, troubleshooting, and development in day-to-day work.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, SRE, or in closely related responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ownership of technical initiatives end-to-end, from requirements and design through production delivery and operations.
- Confident Linux skills, particularly with Ubuntu, and working knowledge of the Prometheus stack.
- Hands-on experience designing CI/CD pipelines, build orchestration, artifact delivery, Docker, image building, and registries.
- Experience with Ansible, Git, and Bash or Python scripting for automation and observability.
- Production and on-call experience diagnosing incidents, restoring service, leading post-mortems, and implementing systemic fixes.
- Experience mentoring less experienced engineers.
- Solid hands-on experience in at least two of the following areas: VictoriaMetrics or Prometheus at scale, large-scale log pipelines, Jenkins scripted pipelines, Harbor or Nexus, Kubernetes with Helm, or Grafana.
- Bonus experience with JupyterHub, Airflow, Tableau, MLflow, Airbyte, Coder, Telepresence, bare-metal Kubernetes, Flux, Terraform, Sentry on-premise, ClickHouse, or MongoDB.
