Responsibilities
- Design and build Nest.js service scaffolding for backend services in the next-generation monorepo.
- Implement paved paths, generators, and platform primitives that enable teams to launch new services quickly.
- Create the seams that allow new services to operate independently of the existing monolith.
- Own deployment workflows for services and web applications on Cloudflare while integrating with AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure managed through Pulumi and Argo CD.
- Lead substantial codebase migrations into the monorepo and develop repeatable migration recipes.
- Partner with product teams as platform customers, using adoption and user friction to guide platform improvements.
- Encode learnings into tooling, generators, and agent-assisted workflows.
- Contribute to engineering blogs, hiring processes, and internal hackathon teams.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience building and operating backend services in production.
- Demonstrated backend service-design experience, including defining service boundaries, contracts, and data ownership.
- Business-level fluency in written and spoken English.
- Experience working in large, heavily coupled codebases and extracting or bypassing functionality incrementally behind behavior-preserving contracts.
- Fluency in TypeScript and Node, with comfort working with edge runtimes.
- Hands-on experience with monorepo tooling at scale, such as Nx or Turborepo, and understanding of build-graph correctness.
- Experience treating migrations as engineering work, including verifying generated output and accounting for silent failures.
- Experience partnering with product teams as platform customers and adapting platforms to their workflows.
- Comfort working across cloud boundaries and evaluating latency and spend tradeoffs.
- Strong written communication and sound judgment when balancing fast and correct solutions.
- Curiosity, openness to growth, and proactive adoption of emerging technologies and AI.
