Responsibilities
- Design, develop, document, and consume complex REST and GraphQL server APIs.
- Set up and configure server APIs, API gateways, and service-to-service communication.
- Build and maintain robust, scalable, and secure server-side applications.
- Design and optimize relational database schemas, indexes, and queries, while supporting in-memory and NoSQL storage solutions.
- Deploy and manage applications on a major cloud platform.
- Create testable frameworks for automation and white-box testing, including unit, integration, BVT, stress, and performance testing.
- Support large-scale microservices and distributed systems.
- Potentially lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- 8–10 years of professional software development experience, including at least 5 years focused on high-scale backend server engineering.
- Demonstrable expertise designing, building, documenting, and consuming complex REST or GraphQL APIs, including experience with API gateways and service-to-service communication.
- Proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Strong understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MS SQL Server, including query optimization, indexing, and schema design.
- Understanding of in-memory database solutions and NoSQL databases for scaling across machine clusters.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Expert knowledge of unit, integration, BVT, stress, performance, automation, and white-box testing methodologies.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree, or equivalent, in computer science, computer engineering, or a directly related field.
- Experience with large-scale microservices, distributed systems, networking, data storage, security, or high-traffic or regulated environments is preferred.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Google Cloud Deployment Manager, or Azure Resource Manager is preferred.
- Prior experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers is preferred.
- Passion for video games is expected.
