Responsibilities
- Spend approximately 25% of the time onsite with customers across the US
- Shadow customer operators, analysts, and frontline teams to understand workflows, constraints, and integration requirements
- Rapidly prototype tools and integrations in the field to validate ideas and solve urgent problems
- Troubleshoot complex operational and systems issues across varied and degraded environments
- Translate field insights into technical requirements and integration specifications for engineering
- Lead technical integration work across APIs, data pipelines, hardware/software interfaces, and security- and compliance-sensitive deployments
- Work with engineering to align features, interfaces, and infrastructure with operational needs
- Enable smooth deployment, data flow, connectivity, and operational reliability for mission-critical customers
- Provide product and engineering teams with field observations, data, and customer feedback
- Support pre-sales by traveling onsite with prospects to demonstrate and validate the product
- Help establish the foundation, processes, and culture for Realm’s forward deployed engineering function
Requirements
- At least 2 years of software engineering, forward deployed, or mission operations experience with a record of impactful shipped work
- Strong technical fluency, coding ability, computer science fundamentals, and the ability to read, write, debug, and prototype software
- Experience working directly with enterprise, industrial, government, defense, or security-critical products
- Mastery of core development, infrastructure, and DevOps tools including Git and Linux
- Ability to lead cross-functional problem solving, influence technical teams, and drive projects from inception to delivery
- Strong prioritization, structured thinking, ambiguity tolerance, data instincts, and written and verbal communication skills
- Hands-on prototyping and AI-assisted coding experience
- Experience or familiarity with customer field deployments, industrial or government software, mobile or web applications, cloud infrastructure, IoT or industrial systems, real-time data pipelines, sensitive customer environments, mining, or industrial safety regulations is preferred
- Must be based in the US; citizenship is preferred, or the candidate must be a permanent resident
