Base Salary
$364k - $505k/yr
Responsibilities
- Oversee and steer engineering projects across multiple locations and drive cross-functional engineering decisions for BigQuery.
- Provide database domain expertise to guide early designs, accelerate project decisions, and maintain oversight of technical execution.
- Drive improvements and fundamental rearchitecting of storage and query systems for large-scale, low-latency analytics.
- Partner with engineering and product management teams to shape product direction.
- Lead the team's long-term technical strategy and collaborate with engineering teams and broader leadership, including through travel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of engineering experience with experience in technical innovation.
- 10 years of database experience with data processing engines and systems.
- Preferred experience with SQL-based transaction processing systems such as OLTP or large-scale analytics systems such as OLAP.
- Preferred experience with high-availability designs, horizontally scalable database architectures, and cloud services.
- Preferred experience leading concurrent engineering projects, creating technical roadmaps, promoting product excellence, and collaborating across teams.
- Passion for enterprise customers and strong understanding of enterprise workloads.
