Responsibilities
- Lead the design and end-to-end delivery of high-complexity backend systems for settlement, on-exchange credit, matched-book lending, and cross-venue order flows.
- Author technical designs, decompose work into reviewable steps, and define failure states, invariants, and recovery procedures.
- Shape the team’s technical roadmap and architecture with emphasis on reliability, correctness, and risk control.
- Operate systems in production and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Mentor engineers, conduct design-focused code reviews, and serve as a technical partner to stakeholders and other teams.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience independently delivering complex, high-ambiguity backend projects with long-term impact and operating them in production.
- Hands-on experience building financial systems such as user balances, ledgers, risk engines, settlement, or payments.
- Deep expertise in distributed state, transactional integrity, idempotency, and exactly-once semantics.
- Strong design judgment, including the ability to identify failure paths and define enforcing constraints, tests, and alerts.
- Strong communication, cross-team alignment, design review, and engineering mentorship skills.
- Fluency in a modern backend language, with primary use of Python, Django, and Go.
