Responsibilities
- Build and evolve core systems that review safety detections and determine which events are surfaced to customers.
- Improve detection precision by identifying ambiguous cases, deflecting low-value reviews, and automating high-confidence triage.
- Work across backend systems, data, and AI-driven decisioning to improve product quality and review efficiency.
- Partner with product, design, AI, and ML infrastructure teams to improve model feedback loops and safety detections.
- Own complex projects from technical approach and design through production rollout, measurement, and iteration.
- Use AI-assisted engineering workflows for prototyping, implementation, debugging, testing, and iteration while maintaining code quality and reliability.
- Raise standards for quality, operability, and engineering clarity across the Safety platform.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software development experience, primarily in backend or distributed systems.
- Experience shipping product-engineering systems that solve real customer problems.
- Strong programming and software engineering fundamentals with production experience in at least one modern programming language.
- Experience designing and building large-scale, high-throughput systems.
- Experience working in a data-led and data-backed environment.
- Ability to connect technical decisions to customer value and communicate effectively across teams.
- Preferred: experience with human or AI review systems, data annotation workflows, or customer-facing quality control.
- Preferred: experience partnering with AI or ML teams and familiarity with classifier-based or model-driven product workflows.
- Preferred: deep experience with backend languages such as Go or Java.
- Preferred: experience designing orchestrated pipelines or workflow systems, including Temporal or similar frameworks.
- Preferred: experience developing AI-native engineering workflows and improving team use of AI tools.
- Preferred: experience mentoring teammates, improving systems, and raising team engineering standards.
