Responsibilities
- Architect and develop scalable software solutions for simulation, system modeling, automation, and cloud-based development workflows.
- Design and implement frameworks supporting firmware, drivers, operating systems, middleware, SDKs, and system-level software validation.
- Drive shift-left development, integration, and validation before hardware availability.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements, influence technical direction, and deliver integrated solutions.
- Apply AI-assisted development, automation, and advanced tooling to improve engineering productivity and solution quality.
- Lead root-cause analysis and debugging of system-level issues involving firmware, operating systems, drivers, hardware-software interactions, and simulation environments.
- Conduct architecture and code reviews, mentor engineers, identify technical risks, and define mitigation strategies.
- Influence long-term architecture and technology investments related to simulation fidelity, scalability, and developer productivity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of experience; alternatively, a master's degree with 6+ years or a PhD with 4+ years in software development or related technical disciplines.
- Experience designing and delivering complex software systems at scale.
- Advanced understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and system software development.
- Advanced programming experience in C++, Python, or similar systems programming languages.
- Experience leading technical projects across multiple teams or system domains.
- Ability to solve complex, ambiguous technical problems with broad organizational impact.
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency in verbal and written communication.
- Unrestricted permanent right to work in Costa Rica.
- Preferred experience with system simulators, virtual platforms, emulation technologies, modeling frameworks, firmware, boot flows, operating systems, device drivers, hardware-software interactions, AI/ML-enabled developer tools, validation, performance characterization, workload analysis, and system optimization.
- Preferred technical leadership, communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, and cross-organizational influence skills.
