Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, test, and evaluate secure software and cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to understand business requirements, architecture, and technology direction.
- Design scalable, resilient, secure, and usable software systems and services.
- Define service boundaries, version APIs, and handle distributed-system failure modes.
- Design and consume HTTP APIs and equivalent service interfaces with compatible contracts and appropriate authentication and authorization.
- Build and operate containerized services in a public cloud environment.
- Deliver automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing through established delivery pipelines.
- Use Git-based workflows and participate in substantive code reviews.
- Provide production support through logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and live-incident triage.
- Take ambiguous problems through design, implementation, and release; decompose work for others; and raise engineering standards.
- Participate in cross-functional communication, mentoring, hiring interviews, and a rotating on-call schedule.
- Apply Agile or iterative delivery practices and continuously improve engineering sustainability and developer or user experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years of related experience, or a master’s degree and 2 years of related experience, or a Ph.D. and 1 year of related experience, or 12 years of related experience with no degree.
- Professional experience designing, building, and maintaining production software in a modern object-oriented language such as C#, Java, Kotlin, Go, TypeScript, Python, or C++.
- Strong command of object-oriented design, including encapsulation, composition, interface design, SOLID, dependency injection, and design patterns.
- Experience with microservice or service-oriented architecture, APIs, distributed failure modes, relational databases, asynchronous processing, public cloud environments, containerized workloads, and production observability.
- Experience with automated testing across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers, Git workflows, code review, production support, and incident triage.
- Senior-level ownership, clear written and verbal communication, and experience working in an Agile or iterative delivery model.
- Preferred qualifications include C# and .NET, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, AWS, Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, and Docker.
- Preferred experience includes distributed-system patterns, performance and scalability work, feature flags, progressive delivery, SonarQube, SAST, SCA, legacy modernization, third-party API integrations, multi-tenant SaaS, relevant transportation or automotive domains, resiliency practices, mentoring, and hiring participation.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and must pass a pre-employment drug test.
