Responsibilities
- Provide software and systems architecture and design leadership across multiple engineering teams.
- Design and implement cloud services and software architecture for new and existing products.
- Perform hands-on programming, requirements analysis, system design, code review, design review, unit testing, and integration testing.
- Guide programmers on technical implementation and serve as the primary resource for architecture and design questions.
- Automate feature testing and establish measurable testing goals.
- Mentor and coach technical talent across multiple teams.
- Lead development-community initiatives, share standard processes, and support organizational initiatives.
- Document and communicate technical artifacts and processes.
- Contribute to white papers and intellectual property creation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Master's degree in Computer Science and 10+ years of proven experience.
- At least 10 years of web application development experience using Java/J2EE-related technologies and expertise in OOAD principles and methodologies.
- Extensive experience with Apache Tomcat, Jetty, Google Juice, Spring, JSON, XML, and Ajax.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented principles, design patterns, data structures, unit testing with TDD using JUnit, and Domain-Driven Design.
- At least 4 years of cloud computing experience with AWS services including S3, DynamoDB, SNS, SES, and EC2.
- At least 4 years of experience with Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, NoSQL databases, persistence frameworks, and SQL.
- Experience developing sophisticated multithreaded applications and large-scale, highly available distributed software.
- At least 3 years of experience with GitHub, Docker, and Jenkins-based CI/CD frameworks.
- Experience defining and implementing non-functional requirements for security, performance, cost, and code quality.
- Experience publishing white papers, contributing to intellectual property, mentoring, and coaching technical talent.
- Strong communication, collaboration, accountability, problem-solving, and continuous-learning abilities.
