Responsibilities
- Design and implement Layer 3 networking for DDIL environments, including VPN tunnels, dynamic routing, and multipath failover.
- Build radio integration layers that provide a unified networking interface across tactical waveforms.
- Design QoS scheduling and traffic shaping for mission-critical data under bandwidth constraints.
- Build network management and orchestration systems for real-time topology configuration and adaptation.
- Architect PKI infrastructure and certificate lifecycle management for the Lattice mesh, including issuance, renewal, revocation, rotation, and re-keying.
- Implement zero-trust identity verification across mesh communication paths.
- Build network observability using Prometheus metrics, Grafana dashboards, eBPF instrumentation, and CLI tooling.
- Debug networking issues across deployed assets and cloud infrastructure using packet captures and other diagnostic tools.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Rust, C, C++, or Go.
- Strong understanding of Layer 3 networking, IP routing, tunneling, TCP/UDP, and socket programming.
- Experience building distributed or networked systems such as SDN/SD-WANs, VPNs, routing daemons, or network control planes.
- Understanding of symmetric/asymmetric encryption, digital signatures, certificate chains, and TLS.
- Experience designing or operating PKI systems, including certificate authorities, ACME, EST, or custom issuance protocols.
- Familiarity with asynchronous programming models.
- Comfort using tcpdump, Wireshark, and iproute2 for network debugging.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Preferred: experience with FIPS 140-2/140-3 validated cryptographic modules, post-quantum cryptography, PQC migration strategies, CSNA 2.0 compliance, HSMs, TPMs, OSPF, BGP, software-defined networking, tactical radio systems, military waveforms, or Kubernetes networking.
