Responsibilities
- Lead follow-the-sun production on-call operations and manage SEV1/SEV2 incidents.
- Diagnose, triage, mitigate, and coordinate resolution of production incidents across payment services, Kubernetes platforms, databases, Kafka pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
- Own database high availability and disaster recovery, including replication, backups, point-in-time recovery, failover, and restore drills.
- Define and maintain SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, alerting standards, and operational readiness processes.
- Drive AWS cost optimization through right-sizing, Savings Plans and Reserved Instance coverage, data-transfer management, and storage lifecycle practices.
- Improve reliability through infrastructure automation, observability, capacity planning, performance tuning, and root-cause analysis.
- Partner with engineering teams on resilience, security posture, and operational maturity in PCI-DSS-regulated environments.
- Mentor engineers, reduce operational toil, and promote resilience-by-design practices.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Infrastructure roles supporting high-availability production systems.
- Strong expertise in AWS, EKS, Kubernetes, Terraform, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, Linux, networking, and observability platforms such as Coralogix, PagerDuty, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Proven hands-on experience with database high availability, disaster recovery, replication, failover, backup strategies, and restore operations.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, high availability, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and microservices orchestration.
- Deep knowledge of SRE principles, including SLO/SLI design, error budgets, alert governance, and toil reduction.
- Based in Hong Kong or Shenzhen, with excellent written and spoken English and required Mandarin for local collaboration.
- Experience in payments, banking, fintech, or other highly regulated environments is desirable.
- Experience with AI-assisted operations, including AI agents for incident diagnosis and runbook automation, is desirable.
- Demonstrated ownership, structured problem solving, crisis management, cross-functional incident leadership, and technical mentorship.
