Base Salary
$180k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Extend the MXL financial expression language by adding functions and calculation contexts, optimizing execution, and building composable and debuggable tooling
- Design the runtime that orchestrates multi-step, stateful fund operations across distributed systems
- Build configurable and auditable models for allocations, waterfalls, carry calculations, and equalization
- Develop foundational abstractions used by downstream Maybern platform features
Requirements
- Experience building correctness-critical systems such as financial calculations, billing engines, or trading systems
- Strong abstraction and domain-modeling skills for configurable systems with complex edge cases
- Comfort with server-side languages and frameworks; Maybern uses Python and Django in practice
- Solid understanding of relational databases and transactions, especially where correctness and auditability are critical
- Experience leading highly configurable systems across variable use cases
- Knowledge of platform and cloud technologies and distributed systems; AWS experience is a bonus
- Experience building DSLs, formula engines, rule systems, or other user-programmable abstractions
- Experience designing or working on workflow and orchestration systems, including state machines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in learning private-market mechanics such as waterfalls, allocations, and fund accounting
- Ability to thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
