Base Salary
$160k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Scale and improve Discord’s ability to review and detect harmful content.
- Build and maintain production systems operating at massive scale.
- Participate in on-call rotations.
- Apply adversarial thinking to security, abuse scenarios, edge cases, and scalability concerns.
- Collaborate with Trust & Safety, ML, Policy, and product teams to define requirements and deliver effective solutions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend services and/or infrastructure.
- Professional experience with Python or a similar programming language.
- Experience building and operating distributed systems and production services at scale using platforms such as GCP or AWS.
- Ability to debug and navigate complex, multi-service codebases.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including experience with cross-functional partners.
- Bonus: experience with content moderation, trust and safety, or related domains.
- Bonus: experience with observability tooling, metrics, and monitoring systems at scale.
