Responsibilities
- Onboard log sources end to end by collecting, parsing, normalizing, and landing data in OpenSearch.
- Scale and tune OpenSearch clusters in AWS, including node sizing, shard and index strategy, and storage tiers.
- Perform cluster maintenance such as version upgrades, snapshots, restores, and index lifecycle policy management.
- Troubleshoot ingestion delays, parsing failures, and cluster health issues while participating in incident triage.
- Automate manual operational work and move infrastructure into code.
- Model log data so fields are consistent and queryable across sources.
- Maintain access controls that keep log data complete, trustworthy, and tamper-resistant.
- Contribute to the design of the next-generation logging platform and its SIEM in collaboration with other teams.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience running OpenSearch or Elasticsearch clusters, including scaling, tuning, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Experience building log ingestion and parsing pipelines with tools such as Logstash, Fluent Bit, or OpenSearch Ingestion.
- Familiarity with streaming services such as Kinesis or Kafka.
- At least 3 years of experience working in AWS environments, with a solid understanding of how to secure them.
- Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Puppet.
- Ability to write Python or Ruby to automate operational work.
- Strong Linux skills.
- Interest in how security teams use log data and in improving operational practices with AI.
- SIEM implementation or migration experience is a bonus.
- Familiarity with log schemas such as ECS or OCSF is a bonus.
- Experience with S3-based data lakes, log routing, or high-volume event pipelines is a bonus.
- Experience with Kubernetes or EKS is a bonus.
- Infrastructure security experience with firewalls, ACLs, authentication, or device hardening is a bonus.
- Security certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CKS, CISSP, or similar are a bonus.
