Base Salary
$135k - $189k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop board support package software and drivers for new hardware.
- Program hardware at bare-metal or operating-system level for initialization, control, embedded data processing, and networking.
- Debug avionics spaceflight hardware using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG debuggers, and related tools.
- Participate in hardware/software partitioning, design concepts, design reviews, requirements generation, and requirements review.
- Benchmark hardware performance and deploy benchmarking code.
- Bring up and use hardware accelerators in system-on-chip devices.
- Develop embedded software for interfaces including I2C, SPI, UART, TCP/IP, UDP, GMSL, SpaceWire, CameraLink, Aurora, AXI, and AMBA.
- Develop boot and software-based fault-tolerance strategies.
- Create and execute comprehensive laboratory test plans and procedures and perform root-cause analysis.
- Perform scripting, Linux development, and hands-on work with development kits and sensor modules.
- Publish internal documents and memos and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of experience in the relevant technical fields.
- Experience developing board support packages and applications for embedded Linux targets.
- Strong embedded software development skills in C/C++ with Linux or similar scripting experience.
- Strong cross-hardware/software debugging skills using tools such as GDB, XSDB, GRMON, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and Wireshark.
- Understanding of computer architecture, memory buses, cache, DMA, and CPU execution pipelines.
- Experience with version control systems, including Git.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal direction.
- Preferred: master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
- Preferred: extensive prototype development, laboratory debugging, testing, RF hardware testing, space software, DO-178C, NASA NPR 7150.2D, FPGA development, hardware-accelerated functions, Matlab, Python, Linux tools, kernel development, and driver development experience.
