Senior Staff AI Engineer

Responsibilities
- Partner with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components for foundation model training, LLM inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.
- Use open-source and SaaS AI technologies to build scalable production AI systems.
- Invent and introduce LLM optimization techniques that improve scalability, cost, latency, throughput, and hardware utilization.
- Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap for foundational AI systems.
- Lead and mentor an engineering organization and influence cross-functional stakeholders up to the SVP level.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus at least 10 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a master’s degree in one of those fields plus at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- At least 10 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
- Experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms.
- Experience architecting, designing, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex enterprise AI systems.
- Experience developing AI and ML technologies such as LLM inference, similarity search, vector databases, guardrails, and memory using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
- Experience developing and applying techniques to optimize training and inference software for hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost.
- Ability to stay current with AI research, understand scientific publications, and apply novel techniques in production.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for explaining complex AI concepts.
