Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy state-of-the-art ground operational systems for the SDA GMI program.
- Contribute to a cross-functional software engineering team and lead aspects of the software development process.
- Implement cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, automation, configuration management, and infrastructure as code.
- Develop, test, and manage APIs and software using Python, Java, Linux/UNIX, YAML, and JSON.
- Use AWS services, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring and logging platforms, and security and vulnerability-management tools.
- Apply security, compliance, encryption, PKI, incident-response, auditing, and monitoring practices.
- Provide technical leadership, documentation, collaboration, and continuous process improvement, including use of AI tools and prompt engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or a related science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field plus 5+ years of job-related experience, or a master’s degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
- Proficiency in Python or Java and strong knowledge of Python, Linux/UNIX, YAML, and JSON.
- Experience with AWS cloud platforms and services, including fundamental AWS networking; AWS Solutions Architect certification or experience is strongly preferred, and Azure knowledge is a plus.
- Knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD, GitOps, automation, configuration management, and infrastructure as code.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, API design and management, and relevant monitoring, logging, security, and vulnerability-scanning tools.
- Familiarity with security best practices, risk and compliance, vulnerability management, encryption and PKI, incident response, auditing, and monitoring.
- Familiarity with Scaled Agile methodology; Kafka experience is a nice-to-have.
- Department of Defense Secret clearance is preferred at hire; selected applicants must undergo a U.S. Government security investigation and meet classified-access eligibility requirements.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
