Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend payment services for Expedia’s global travel platform.
- Apply software design principles, data structures, design patterns, and computer science fundamentals to produce clean, maintainable, optimized, modular code.
- Implement secure data-handling practices to protect payment information and meet compliance standards.
- Recommend and apply architectural patterns or GenAI capabilities to improve system design and innovation.
- Improve service reliability through observability, automation, and continuous operational improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features aligned with Expedia’s strategic goals.
- Support payment systems through monitoring, debugging, incident resolution, and root-cause analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or master's degree in a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- At least 2 years of backend software development experience with cloud-based and distributed systems at scale.
- Proficiency in Java or Kotlin.
- Hands-on experience integrating services with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure and test automation, and delivering features in Agile development environments.
- Preferred experience with payment platforms or backend services leveraging GenAI technologies.
- Preferred experience contributing to multiple multi-quarter, cross-team projects.
- Preferred experience supporting complex distributed systems in production.
- Preferred experience designing and deploying scalable services on AWS.
- A master's degree in a related technical field is preferred.
