Responsibilities
- Design and implement core banking product and ledger logic for accounts, deposits, lending, fees, interest, limits, delinquency, posting rules, and lifecycle states.
- Build accurate, auditable, idempotent ledger postings and implement financial events such as accruals, compounding, billing cycles, and statement triggers.
- Develop APIs and integration services for payments, KYC, CRM, general ledger, data and analytics, fraud, and notification systems.
- Implement event-driven integrations with robust error handling, retries, reconciliation, and observability.
- Collaborate on data models, reporting extracts, and financial, risk, regulatory, audit, and compliance controls.
- Write unit, integration, and contract tests, including reconciliation scenarios and automated testing for financial logic.
- Support CI/CD releases and controlled promotion across development, test, and production environments.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, improve stability and runbooks, and maintain technical documentation.
- Partner with product owners, subject matter experts, engineering, operations, security, risk, finance, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Contribute to engineering standards, reusable components, platform accelerators, and secure, scalable financial capabilities.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience developing APIs or integration services in regulated enterprise environments; banking or financial-services experience is strongly preferred.
- BA or MBA in IT, or 10+ years of relevant integration technology and core banking experience.
- Proven experience delivering core banking products using Thought Machine Vault or a comparable modern core and ledger platform.
- Strong understanding of double-entry accounting, ledgers, postings, balances, reconciliation, financial controls, and auditability.
- Experience implementing fees, interest, limits, repayment schedules, lifecycle events, and product configuration.
- Experience with payments such as SEPA, Faster Payments, or SWIFT, as well as card processing or transaction-monitoring patterns.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting, audit trails, model governance, policy-as-code, data privacy, retention, and GDPR requirements.
- Experience with test automation for financial logic, including golden datasets, reconciliation harnesses, and simulation testing.
- Familiarity with data platforms, SQL, Snowflake or BigQuery, and ETL/ELT pipelines for reporting and analytics.
- Strong software engineering background in Python, Java, Kotlin, Go, or similar languages.
- Experience building REST or gRPC APIs and integration services, with familiarity with Kafka or equivalent event-driven architectures.
- Understanding of software design principles, Git, testing practices, cloud-native environments, containers, and production support.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and Docker; familiarity with observability practices including logs, metrics, tracing, and SLOs.
- Preferred exposure to 4th-generation banking platforms such as Thought Machine or 10X, service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd, zero-trust patterns, TOGAF, enterprise integration architecture, or API product management.
- Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, organizational, stakeholder-management, and regulatory judgment skills.
