
Software Engineer I - Device Control

Base Salary
$75k - $100k/yr
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior engineers and the manager to learn the codebase, systems, and engineering practices while contributing to production features.
- Design and build well-tested software components for cloud-based device control systems.
- Write and maintain automated tests, debug issues, fix bugs, and improve existing services.
- Use AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code, for coding, testing, and debugging.
- Document systems and participate actively in code reviews.
- Join the team’s on-call rotation as a first responder after onboarding and ramp-up, with senior-engineer support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, completed or expected soon, or equivalent practical experience.
- Foundation in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
- Exposure to at least one modern programming language such as C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C++, Go, or Python through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with version control such as Git.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, curiosity, humility, willingness to learn, collaboration, and clear communication.
- Preferred qualifications include internship, co-op, research, personal, or open-source software development experience.
- Preferred qualifications include exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP, or experience building and deploying cloud-based services.
- Preferred qualifications include coursework or projects involving distributed systems, APIs, or IoT/embedded devices.
