Responsibilities
- Design, refactor, and maintain scalable backend microservices and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Re-architect backend systems to improve maintainability, reliability, and throughput.
- Implement identity, secrets management, and authentication standards across cloud environments.
- Integrate real-time sports data feeds, video streams, commentary providers, and other third-party systems.
- Deploy and manage containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Provision and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
- Build and manage automated deployment workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application and database performance.
- Participate in technical planning, architecture discussions, and peer code reviews.
- Create maintainable technical documentation for APIs and backend systems.
Requirements
- Strong commercial contracting experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Production experience building, deploying, and maintaining applications in AWS or Azure cloud environments.
- Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes experience.
- Expertise designing and building secure, high-traffic APIs.
- Practical Terraform experience for Infrastructure as Code.
- Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, and Cosmos DB.
- Understanding of cloud security fundamentals including IAM, secrets management, and key vaults.
- Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, Bitbucket Pipelines, or ArgoCD.
- Experience with event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka or similar messaging systems is desirable.
- Performance tuning, cloud cost optimization, automated testing, and cloud networking experience are desirable.
