Base Salary

$118k - $177k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Bring up Linux kernel and userspace on new server-class hardware while ensuring functionality and stability.
  • Implement and maintain build, packaging, testing, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Develop internal Linux distribution integration and debug build, packaging, and platform bring-up issues.
  • Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers to resolve bootloader, ACPI, and secure boot issues.
  • Test and validate changes for major Linux distributions and contribute patches to upstream Linux communities.
  • Document processes and share knowledge with internal developers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field plus 2+ years of software engineering or related experience; or a master’s degree plus 1+ year; or a PhD.
  • At least 2 years of academic or work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Proficiency with Bash and Python, working knowledge of C/C++, and strong software engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience debugging complex Linux systems across kernel and userspace.
  • Proficiency with Git and GitHub-based workflows or similar, including modern CI/CD systems.
  • Experience with enterprise Linux distributions, packaging, update mechanisms, upstream integration, and data center deployment practices.
  • Familiarity with Debian and RPM packaging, GitHub Actions or Jenkins, Linux kernel configuration, ACPI, UEFI, and kconfig.
  • Experience contributing to upstream Linux kernel or userspace projects is preferred; familiarity with QEMU, KVM, Docker, and Kubernetes is desirable.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, planning, and prioritization skills.
