Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate secure, scalable backend services, APIs, and cloud applications for digital twin and simulation systems.
- Implement backend APIs, data services, real-time processing pipelines, and event-driven or job-oriented workflows for robotics and operational data.
- Support simulation orchestration and cloud execution platforms on Google Cloud services including Cloud Batch, GKE, Cloud Run, and Cloud Storage.
- Manage cloud compute, storage, networking, deployment pipelines, monitoring, logging, security configurations, reliability, and cost optimization.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Google Cloud Build, and container-based deployment workflows.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform and related automation.
- Monitor system health, performance, reliability, cost, and security posture and implement improvements.
- Collaborate with software, robotics, data, QA, data science, and product stakeholders.
- Support simulation and digital twin workloads across development, staging, and production environments.
- Maintain documentation for backend services, cloud architecture, deployments, operational runbooks, and system configurations.
- Support AI-powered, data-driven, and agentic enterprise workflows through backend services, cloud infrastructure, and integration platforms.
- Travel up to 10% and drive or fly to client and customer locations when required.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in backend development, DevOps, cloud engineering, platform engineering, or related software engineering roles.
- Strong backend development experience with Node.js and TypeScript-heavy or shared monorepo environments.
- Experience designing and building scalable backend services, APIs, data processing services, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, especially Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud Batch, Pub/Sub, Cloud Build, Cloud Storage, IAM, Secret Manager, and Cloud Logging/Monitoring.
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, security, monitoring, logging, and cost optimization.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, containerization, and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience with Docker and preferably Kubernetes or cloud-managed container services.
- Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience with data pipelines, event-driven systems, and real-time data streams.
- Experience with databases and data platforms such as MongoDB, Snowflake, or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Google Pub/Sub, Redis pub/sub, NATS, BullMQ, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
- Understanding of system reliability, scalability, security, observability, and operational excellence.
- Familiarity with cloud security practices including access control, secrets management, network security, and secure deployment processes.
- Python or .NET experience is a plus.
- AWS or other major cloud platform experience is preferred.
- Robotics, simulation, digital twin, warehouse automation, IoT, or high-volume telemetry experience is a plus.
- Experience supporting AI/ML-powered backend systems or data platforms is a plus.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Windsurf is a plus.
- Strong teamwork, communication, ownership, problem-solving, and English communication skills are required.
- A valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer locations are required when applicable.
