Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and hands-on implementation of scalable, highly available, resilient Python applications and frameworks.
- Design software platforms for high-throughput data processing, quantitative computation, and market-risk calculations.
- Design, develop, and secure RESTful APIs, integration patterns, and relational or NoSQL database schemas.
- Apply software architecture standards, distributed-systems principles, caching strategies, and modern engineering practices.
- Own technical initiatives including planning, forecasting, project tracking, governance, change management, and team-level technology budgets.
- Enforce code quality through reviews, automated testing, continuous integration, and SDLC practices.
- Collaborate with Risk Managers, Risk Analytics, Senior Quants, Front Office, DevOps, Production Support, global teams, and external partners.
- Communicate technical and delivery matters clearly to development teams, stakeholders, and senior business executives.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on application development experience focused primarily on Python, data structures, and algorithms.
- Expert Python 3.x proficiency with advanced computation libraries, object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
- Advanced knowledge of FastAPI, Django, and Flask.
- Strong distributed-systems and architecture experience, including microservices, event-driven architecture, and caching strategies.
- Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, and advanced SQL optimization.
- Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems, shell scripting, and system-level development.
- Strong experience with AWS or IBM Symphony Grid, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD systems.
- Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, Pytest, unittest, Git, Bitbucket, and GitHub.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and OWASP Top 10 principles.
- Multiple years of experience developing quantitative or calculation-intensive Python solutions using NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy.
- Experience with market risk, stress testing, Value at Risk, sensitivities, regulatory risk projects, mathematical modeling, or financial insights.
- Exposure to AI/ML frameworks, GitHub Copilot, Devin, Claude, Gemini, GPT, agentic AI, generative AI, and AI-assisted development workflows.
- Experience working with Agile/Scrum and strong analytical, systems-thinking, design-thinking, ownership, and adaptability skills.
- Banking or financial-services experience in pricing, valuation, or risk management systems is preferred; relevant cloud, industry, CFA, or FRM certifications are advantageous.
