Base Salary
$152k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate scalable, reliable, available, extensible, and high-performance back-end systems.
- Build and maintain high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems that meet strict availability and durability SLAs/SLOs.
- Establish architecture paradigms, API standards, and technical strategy across multiple engineering teams.
- Lead major technical initiatives such as zero-downtime database migrations, legacy system modernization, and infrastructure cost optimization.
- Develop event-driven architectures and distributed messaging solutions.
- Improve observability and reliability through distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, chaos engineering, and incident management leadership.
- Mentor engineers and help Senior engineers progress into Lead or Staff roles.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional software development experience focused on large-scale back-end systems and microservices architectures.
- A proven record of designing, building, and operating high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems in production.
- Deep technical mastery of at least one modern back-end language such as Go, Java, Python, C++, or Rust.
- Strong proficiency with relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, Redis, or DynamoDB.
- Experience establishing architecture paradigms, REST, gRPC, or GraphQL API standards, and technical strategy across multiple engineering teams.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; Kubernetes; and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Expertise with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pulsar is preferred.
- Experience leading technical turnarounds, observability and reliability engineering, and active technical mentorship is preferred.
