Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and operate production-grade backend services, APIs, integrations, and distributed systems primarily using Go.
- Build Kafka-based event-driven workflows and asynchronous processing capabilities.
- Define service boundaries, data models, schemas, API contracts, versioning, and integration patterns.
- Develop capabilities for merchant acquisition, identity, marketing technology, operations, risk, and compliance.
- Own technical work end to end from discovery and system design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production follow-up.
- Modernize existing services and improve reliability through observability, security, failure handling, and incident response.
- Collaborate with Product, Data, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Sales, Marketing, and engineering teams.
- Review code and designs, make technical trade-offs, share knowledge, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Strong backend engineering background in Go, or experience as a typed-language generalist willing to ramp up quickly.
- Experience designing APIs and distributed systems with clear contracts, versioning, and integration patterns.
- Fluency with relational and analytical databases including PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
- Experience building Kafka-based event-driven systems and understanding event sourcing and CDC patterns.
- Experience with auditable, high-trust systems such as fintech or payments.
- Experience with testing, observability, and incident response practices.
- Ability to own ambiguous problems and develop clear, scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Clear communication, effective collaboration, and ability to explain technical concepts and trade-offs to varied audiences.
- Pragmatic engineering mindset, commitment to continuous improvement, mentoring, and reliable production operations.
