Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teammates and Engineering Leaders to define and execute the Telemetry team’s vision and scope.
- Design and develop scalable systems and high-throughput streaming data pipelines for device and geospatial data.
- Deliver scoped work on time and with high quality.
- Test and monitor systems and code, write documentation, and participate in on-call support.
- Reduce technical debt, optimize application performance, and accelerate feature delivery.
- Share expertise through documentation, mentorship, pairing, and written and verbal communication.
- Support company-wide observability, performance metrics, and actionable insights for Mapbox products.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building scalable, high-volume, low-latency backend services.
- 3+ years of experience building streaming pipelines capable of handling petabytes of data.
- Eagerness to become proficient with Python, Node.js, TypeScript, Rust, C++, and AWS services.
- Knowledge and experience handling global data security standards.
- Familiarity with code versioning tools such as GitHub.
- Ability to independently perform development tasks from designs and specifications.
- Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, documentation, mentorship, and outcomes-oriented skills.
- Experience writing unit tests, remedying defects, and following work through to production.
