Responsibilities
- Build and operate high-performance, stable, scalable production systems for global streaming services.
- Lead major functional changes across existing and new software systems.
- Establish engineering, coding, design, operational, and quality standards within the team.
- Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and improve operational processes.
- Implement and improve performance, scale, availability, reliability, security, alerting, metrics, and logging.
- Participate in global operations, including on-call rotations, incident response, and playbook development.
- Influence technical strategy and planning, contribute to technical decisions, and balance short- and long-term business needs.
- Document code, designs, and processes; collaborate with remote peers; share knowledge; and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 5–8 years of experience as a software developer.
- Strong proficiency in Java and experience building scalable, cloud-native systems.
- Experience building and operating large-scale platform services in non-production and production environments.
- Strong computer science fundamentals and technical understanding of Kubernetes-based architectures, REST/gRPC communication, caching, messaging, databases, API gateways, service mesh, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Direct experience with at least one cloud provider, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience establishing and improving data-driven infrastructure and service KPIs.
- Understanding of security best practices and customer data protection.
- Experience implementing alerting, metrics, and logging with tools such as Prometheus, CloudWatch, Kibana, and PagerDuty.
- Experience with persistence and caching technologies such as PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, and Caffeine.
- Familiarity with asynchronous, non-blocking, functional, and reactive programming, including hands-on experience with Spring WebFlux, Vert.x, or Node.js.
- Strong written and verbal communication, technical documentation, collaboration, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
