Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across multiple teams and own the architecture of high-throughput, low-latency backend services.
- Drive distributed-systems architecture decisions involving service boundaries, data modeling, storage, scalability, and performance.
- Lead cross-team technical initiatives from design through rollout and align engineering work with product and business goals.
- Act as technical lead for a product line by decomposing complex problems, guiding engineers, and removing blockers.
- Mentor senior and junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and pair programming.
- Design and build Redis-based systems for caching, counters, rate limiting, distributed locking, pub/sub, and streams.
- Build event-driven and asynchronous systems using messaging and streaming platforms such as Kafka.
- Lead the integration of LLM-powered features, agentic workflows, RAG, and MCP-based tool integrations.
- Establish standards for responsible use of coding agents and AI development tools.
- Set engineering practices for API design, code quality, testing, security, privacy, observability, and healthcare compliance.
- Design observability strategies using metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, Grafana, and Prometheus.
- Investigate complex production issues, drive root-cause fixes, and lead blameless postmortems.
- Promote technical documentation, design forums, internal talks, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems in production.
- Deep expertise in Java 17+ and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Spring Data.
- Strong understanding of JVM internals, concurrency, and performance tuning.
- Strong experience with Redis data structures, persistence, clustering, trade-offs, and non-caching use cases.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Aerospike, or Cassandra, including query optimization and schema design.
- Experience with Kafka, resilient event-driven architectures, and idempotent systems.

- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor.
- Ability to lead technical work across multiple teams, influence architecture without direct authority, and mentor senior engineers.
- Clear communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in ad tech or healthcare data platforms is preferred.
- Production LLM feature experience, including guardrails, cost and latency optimization, and AI-workload observability, is preferred.
- Familiarity with Spark or Flink is preferred.
- Open-source contributions, technical writing, or speaking experience is preferred.
