Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, monitor, scale, and troubleshoot ML- and LLM-based systems powering shared AI services.
- Build secure, high-performance AWS backend services and platform components, owning them from implementation through production monitoring.
- Collaborate with Applied Scientists, Product teams, and Software Engineers to productize AI capabilities.
- Develop reusable AI libraries, frameworks, and internal tooling that accelerate delivery across teams.
- Evaluate and pilot AI and platform tools to improve performance, cost efficiency, and developer productivity.
- Improve AI platform infrastructure, evaluation practices, observability, governance, reliability, and security.
- Integrate IAM, secrets management, privacy controls, and other security practices into AI and software systems.
- Communicate complex technical and AI concepts clearly and help mentor peers and raise engineering standards.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience delivering secure, scalable applications in agile environments.
- Strong Python and Node.js/TypeScript programming skills with a foundation in software design principles and maintainable, well-tested code.
- Experience building and operating backend services or microservices on a major cloud platform, preferably AWS.
- Experience with serverless or microservice patterns, infrastructure as code, containerization, CI/CD, and observability tooling.
- Understanding of the full lifecycle of AI solutions, from experimentation and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Practical experience working with LLM-based systems or related AI technologies.
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and translate applied science work into robust product capabilities.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Preferred experience with AWS CDK, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, model evaluation, RAG, agentic solutions, MCP servers, AI evaluation, observability, governance, and shared platform capabilities.
