Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end release and deployment lifecycle, including build, packaging, deployment, verification, and rollback.
- Develop and support Octopus Deploy projects, lifecycles, channels, variables, and deployment processes.
- Implement deployment and configuration automation with Ansible playbooks, roles, inventories, and idempotent changes.
- Maintain GitHub-based branching, tagging, versioning, release notes, and permissions workflows.
- Build and maintain GitHub Actions or existing-tooling CI pipelines that produce artifacts and trigger Octopus releases.
- Standardize deployment patterns using templates, shared steps, and reusable Ansible roles.
- Manage environment configuration and secrets with controlled permissions, variable sets, and auditing.
- Improve deployment safety through approvals, health checks, smoke tests, automated validation, and rollback strategies.
- Support production releases, troubleshoot deployment failures, and perform root-cause analysis.
- Maintain release documentation, runbooks, and change management practices while collaborating with developers, QA, and operations.
Requirements
- Experience as a DevOps, Release, or Deployment Engineer supporting production deployments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Octopus Deploy, including process design, variables, and multi-environment releases.
- Strong Ansible skills for deployment and configuration, including roles, vault/secrets, and troubleshooting.
- Strong working knowledge of GitHub, including pull request workflows, tagging, releases, and permissions.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts such as artifact management, versioning, and promotion between environments.
- Administration and troubleshooting experience on Windows and/or Linux deployment hosts.
- Ability to diagnose issues across application, operating system, network, and configuration layers.
- Preferred experience with Terraform and infrastructure provisioning.
- Preferred scripting experience with PowerShell and/or Bash.
- Preferred familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, logs, IIS/.NET deployments, Nginx, reverse proxies, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, VMware, Hyper-V, F5 LTM, F5 GTM, SIP, FreeSWITCH, OpenSIPS, and session border controllers.
