
Senior Software Engineer - Java Backend, Officer
State StreetResponsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and implement complex software enhancements and solutions across Charles River IMS modules, core frameworks, and primary system facilities.
- Develop cloud-native services and software applications using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, and related programming languages.
- Work with microservice architectures, Kubernetes, Kafka, message-based systems, and high-performance database applications.
- Provide technical leadership in product architecture, advanced problem solving, code reviews, and critical analysis of proposed changes.
- Write unit and automation tests, conduct manual testing, and improve development and test methodologies and related frameworks.
- Provide expert troubleshooting for large, mission-critical client implementations and assist customer support and development teams.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Managers, team leaders, and peer engineers to deliver sustainable solutions and coordinate cross-team activities.
- Participate in Agile scrum activities including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another technical field is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience is required.
- At least 6 years of financial services experience developing solutions for portfolio management, trading, compliance, post-trade, IBOR, or wealth management is strongly desired.
- At least 5 years of experience working with an Agile development methodology is required.
- Authoritative experience with object-oriented programming, compiler or interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases, scripting, and advanced programming languages.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems involving multi-tiered, high-performance database applications and to design simple solutions to complex business and technical problems.
- Experience with Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, cloud-native services, microservice architectures, Kubernetes, Kafka, and message-based systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with peers.
