Responsibilities
- Identify unassigned architectural problems and deliver robust, lasting solutions.
- Set technical direction, architectural standards, and engineering excellence across the media stack.
- Mentor engineers through knowledge sharing, code reviews, and removal of knowledge silos.
- Own complex features from concept through production in partnership with product managers and designers.
- Architect and ship functionality across web surfaces, mobile applications, and backend services.
- Use AI tools and help develop internal AI tooling for product, design, and editorial workflows.
- Implement progressive delivery with feature flags, dependable CI/CD pipelines, production observability, and operational governance.
- Maintain production reliability, performance, security, and long-term system health.
Requirements
- 7–8 years of experience shipping production software.
- Proven end-to-end ownership of at least one complex, high-traffic production system from initial design through maturity.
- Deep hands-on expertise with React, Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, RESTful APIs, and content management platforms.
- Strong expertise in server-side rendering, advanced caching patterns, and optimizing Core Web Vitals at scale.
- Experience with automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using tools such as Playwright and Maestro.
- Experience establishing automated CI/CD pipelines and embedding security practices across client and server boundaries.
- Experience designing or maintaining high-volume consumer platforms or media properties with tens of millions of monthly impressions.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience deprecating legacy infrastructure, building mobile applications with React Native and Expo, using Bun, Elysia, Redis, Auth0, Sanity, Google Ad Manager, Stripe, HubSpot, Amplitude, Google Cloud Platform, and Terraform.
