Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design and implement distributed vector, full-text, and hybrid-search capabilities for DynamoDB.
- Build vector indexes and approximate nearest-neighbor retrieval mechanisms for high-dimensional embeddings.
- Develop full-text indexing and retrieval with tokenization, text analysis, inverted indexes, relevance scoring, and phrase or term search.
- Build hybrid retrieval and ranking that combines vector similarity, lexical relevance, and structured attribute filters.
- Evaluate score normalization, rank fusion, result fusion, and reranking techniques.
- Design distributed query execution including partition selection, query fan-out, local retrieval, top-k merging, filtering, and aggregation.
- Build index lifecycle mechanisms for creation, backfill, incremental updates, compaction, schema or configuration changes, rebalancing, recovery, and deletion.
- Define search-freshness and consistency semantics and keep indexes synchronized with underlying DynamoDB data.
- Integrate search indexes with DynamoDB distributed storage, partitioning, replication, and query processing.
- Optimize search quality, recall, query latency, ingestion throughput, index freshness, memory usage, storage amplification, and cost.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- At least 2 years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems for reliability and scaling.
- At least 1 year of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
- At least 1 year designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, or services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- At least 1 year of object-oriented design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience programming in at least one software programming language.
- Preferred: 3+ years covering the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
