Responsibilities
- Design, implement, scale, and maintain backend systems that process large volumes of data.
- Build event-driven and API-based integrations and contribute to migration toward a scalable, domain-based architecture.
- Optimize software for performance-sensitive, real-time, high-throughput, and low-latency workflows.
- Investigate technical problems, propose solutions, and deliver high-quality production software autonomously.
- Collaborate with engineering, data science, product, research, Outcomes, Methodology, and Recruitment teams.
- Influence and support junior and mid-level engineers while working on complex technical problems.
Requirements
- 10+ years of backend software engineering experience with strong technical depth.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, Big O notation, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with heavy data-processing technologies such as Spark, Apache ecosystem tools, Delta Lake, Parquet, Kafka, and Avro.
- Experience with Python and/or PySpark and willingness to work with Java, the team’s core language.
- Experience building or maintaining complex, real-time, high-volume systems with high throughput and low latency.
- Experience with Docker, SQL, NoSQL databases, REST APIs, and event-driven integrations.
- Ability to work effectively in performance-oriented, production-critical environments.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, proactive, and collaborative working skills.
- Computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud providers is nice to have.
- Experience with Pandas, Spring framework, microservices, and large-scale data or analytics environments is nice to have.
