Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based microservices for the replacement of a legacy clearing platform.
- Build secure, reliable, high-volume APIs and integration services connecting clearing, settlement, and downstream systems.
- Develop Apache Kafka producers, consumers, and streaming integrations for near-real-time event-driven processing.
- Deploy, manage, troubleshoot, and optimize containerized applications on OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Participate in requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Create and maintain RESTful APIs and service contracts with attention to scalability, security, and backward compatibility.
- Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests and support CI/CD build, test, deployment, and quality processes.
- Monitor performance, investigate production issues, and improve resilience, throughput, latency, observability, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with architects, business analysts, product owners, QA engineers, infrastructure teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance to junior developers, and promote software engineering best practices.
- Maintain technical documentation for solution designs, APIs, integration patterns, operations, and deployments.
- Contribute to platform modernization and enterprise cloud-native architecture initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline; a master's degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years of software engineering experience with lead involvement in a production-grade platform in financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
- Extensive enterprise Java application development experience and strong hands-on Apache Kafka experience, including event-driven architecture, messaging patterns, and stream processing.
- Proven experience designing Java and Spring Boot microservices and developing RESTful APIs and enterprise integration services.
- Experience deploying containerized applications with OpenShift, Kubernetes, or similar orchestration platforms.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, scalability, resilience, fault tolerance, secure coding, object-oriented design, design patterns, and test-driven development.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with Bamboo, ArgoCD, or equivalent tools and using Git/BitBucket for collaborative development.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, data integration, performance tuning, observability, logging, monitoring, and tracing.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments, including Scrum or Kanban.
- Financial markets, clearing, settlement, post-trade processing, or capital markets knowledge is highly advantageous.
- Preferred certifications include Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, Oracle Certified Professional Java Developer, Confluent Certified Developer for Apache Kafka, and Certified Kubernetes Application Developer.
