Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based microservices for the replacement of a legacy clearing platform.
- Build secure, scalable, and reliable RESTful APIs and integration services for clearing, settlement, and downstream systems.
- Develop Apache Kafka producers, consumers, streaming integrations, and event-driven solutions for near real-time processing.
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containerized applications on the OpenShift Container Platform and Kubernetes.
- Participate in requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, production support, and code reviews.
- Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests and support CI/CD build, test, deployment, and quality processes.
- Monitor performance, investigate production issues, and improve resilience, throughput, latency, observability, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with architects, business analysts, product owners, QA engineers, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance to junior developers and promote software engineering best practices.
- Maintain technical documentation for solution designs, APIs, integration patterns, operational procedures, and deployments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required; a master's degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years of software engineering experience is required, including demonstrable lead involvement in a production-grade platform in financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
- Extensive experience developing Java applications and strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, event-driven architecture, messaging patterns, and stream processing are required.
- Proven experience designing and developing microservices architectures using Java and Spring Boot is required.
- Experience deploying containerized applications using OpenShift, Kubernetes, or similar orchestration platforms is required.
- Experience building and supporting RESTful APIs and integration services in complex enterprise environments is required.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, scalability, resilience, fault-tolerant design, object-oriented design, secure coding, and test-driven development is required.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Bamboo, ArgoCD, or equivalent is required.
- Experience with Git or BitBucket, DevOps practices, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, relational and non-relational databases, observability, and performance management is required.
- Experience with financial markets, clearing, settlement, post-trade processing, or capital markets systems is advantageous.
- Preferred certifications include Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, Oracle Certified Professional Java Developer, Confluent Certified Developer for Apache Kafka, and Certified Kubernetes Application Developer.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, problem-solving, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills are required.
