Responsibilities
- Improve the results and effectiveness of software engineers across a large domain.
- Set the technology roadmap for the domain.
- Advise senior PayPal executives and influence multi-year business strategies.
- Resolve ambiguous and unfamiliar situations using creativity and decisive judgment.
- Use exploratory research to support decisions beyond strictly technical domains.
- Identify cross-project and cross-team trends and broadly impactful improvement opportunities.
- Evaluate when to adopt industry-standard solutions versus developing novel solutions.
- Mentor others to extend technical influence and improve organizational performance.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to set technology direction, handle ambiguity, and determine objectives and approaches with wide latitude.
- Ability to advise senior executives and influence multi-year business strategies.
- Ability to identify organization-wide trends, make build-versus-buy decisions, and mentor engineers.
