Base Salary
$94k - $142k/yr
Responsibilities
- Participate in the global Kafka-as-a-Service App and Infrastructure Operations function, including follow-the-sun support.
- Perform daily operational checks, continuous monitoring, regional handovers, and post-release or infrastructure-update health checks.
- Provide L1/L2 technical support, resolve incidents and problems, and manage releases against service-level expectations.
- Administer and support Kafka services across multiple clusters using automation.
- Execute business continuity and resiliency procedures and contribute to operational efficiency improvements.
- Manage change, release, incident, and problem-management processes.
- Maintain technical support documentation and provide technical oversight during major issue escalations and outages.
- Act as a liaison between platform users or tenants and platform engineering teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of proven experience in an Application and Infrastructure Operations role.
- Solid production experience with the Kafka ecosystem, including Kafka Brokers, Kafka Connect, and Zookeeper.
- Experience with other distributed messaging or computing platforms may be considered, along with willingness to learn Kafka.
- Proficiency with Ansible for managing, installing, and upgrading Kafka services across multiple clusters.
- Experience administering Unix systems and applications deployed on them.
- Proficiency with monitoring systems such as Grafana and Splunk for application health checks.
- Experience proposing and driving operational efficiency and process improvements within support functions.
- Effective communication with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with issue tracking, reporting, and Problem Management tools.
- Bachelor’s or university degree, or equivalent experience.
- Exposure to the Confluent stack, including ksqlDB, Rest Proxy, Schema Registry, and Control Center, is a plus.
