Responsibilities
- Support, deploy, and troubleshoot distributed microservices across the on-premises Service Fabric and Kubernetes platform.
- Collaborate with developers on system design, releases, and operational readiness for production features.
- Build new sites end-to-end, including hardware, networking, cluster deployment, and monitoring.
- Automate deployments with Octopus Deploy, GitLab pipelines, and Ansible.
- Automate configuration and operational tasks using Python and PowerShell.
- Build and improve monitoring, observability, dashboards, metrics, logs, and alerting with Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK.
- Troubleshoot gRPC service communication, Protobuf integrations, multicast data feeds, and related TCP/UDP protocols.
- Improve platform stability, resilience, and reliability in the trading environment.
- Develop automated system tests to validate releases before production deployment.
- Coordinate system issue and change information among traders, internal technology teams, exchanges, and vendors.
- Maintain technical and user documentation for supported systems.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of commercial experience in financial services or a similarly demanding production environment.
- Experience supporting highly distributed, microservices-based systems in production.
- Strong Windows administration experience, including supporting and deploying applications on Windows servers.
- Hands-on experience with Service Fabric and/or Kubernetes in on-premises or hybrid environments.
- Experience with Octopus Deploy, GitLab pipelines, and Ansible for deployment automation.
- Understanding of distributed and microservices architectures, ideally including Microsoft Orleans.
- Working knowledge of gRPC, Protobuf, multicast data feeds, TCP, and UDP.
- Scripting or programming experience with Python and/or PowerShell, plus the ability to learn.
- Experience with Prometheus, the ELK stack, Grafana dashboards, and InfluxDB.
- Experience with Azure Service Fabric and Kafka.
- Familiarity with MongoDB sufficient to investigate system issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Understanding of financial markets and equities and derivatives is desirable.
- C# development, Docker, ClickHouse, and experience supporting trading environments are desirable.
