Responsibilities
- Lead development and delivery across globally distributed software teams.
- Design scalable, resilient systems and contribute to service-layer architecture decisions.
- Implement complex features, write exemplary code, and own the full development and deployment lifecycle.
- Design and implement clean, scalable, well-structured APIs and optimize application performance.
- Prototype and evaluate multiple technical approaches, recommending appropriate directions.
- Debug and triage production application issues, including issues in services owned by other teams.
- Automate testing, deployments, performance processes, and recovery procedures.
- Lead, manage, inspire, and develop engineers while encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinate team efforts, report progress to stakeholders and management, and align applications with global markets.
- Work with product, UX/design, PMO, business, and other stakeholders to evolve products and resolve technical or organizational misalignment.
- Participate in on-call duty or out-of-hours work occasionally on a rota basis.
Requirements
- Demonstrable lead engineering and software development experience.
- Strong backend development skills and experience designing and implementing scalable APIs.
- Experience with Java 17+ or other JVM languages and modern frameworks such as Spring Boot.
- Experience with test-driven development, continuous integration practices, software architecture, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
- Experience working with AWS or another cloud provider, CI/CD servers such as GitLab or Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes or another orchestration or scheduling framework.
- Experience in an SOA development environment and working knowledge of databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Strong communication, collaboration, prioritization, debugging, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously, learn quickly, communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences, and operate effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.
- Nice-to-have experience with DevOps, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Databricks, Spark, Terraform, Helm, distributed systems, and always-available IT operations.
