Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, use cases, and project timelines.
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, maintainable software solutions and independently own component design with minimal guidance.
  • Conduct design and code reviews, incorporate feedback, promote code quality, and enforce engineering standards.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize application architecture and code.
  • Provide software development recommendations, best practices, and technical guidance.
  • Lead meetings, present technical information, act as a technical point of contact, and influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and develop team talent through reviews, documentation, standards, and knowledge sharing.
  • Operate and support highly scalable applications and services in production.
  • Apply GenAI and AI/ML techniques, including AI-assisted coding, to accelerate product innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related area, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of professional experience delivering enterprise-class applications.
  • 6+ years of experience building highly scalable distributed solutions using Java.
  • Strong hands-on experience developing highly scalable REST and/or GraphQL microservices.
  • Experience designing and developing distributed, scalable, highly reliable cloud applications.
  • Experience with AWS or another cloud provider.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Expertise with unit testing and test-driven development.
  • Proficiency in programming, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, troubleshooting, and engineering best practices.
  • Strong experience operating and supporting applications or services in production.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted coding and GenAI/AI/ML tools and techniques.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, adaptability, and leadership skills.

  • Expected base pay range is CAD 164,500–222,500 for Toronto.
