Responsibilities
- Build enterprise Azure landing zones with Terraform, including management groups, subscriptions, policies, networking, identity, and core platform services.
- Write and maintain reusable Terraform modules with variables, locals, dynamic blocks, outputs, and clean interfaces.
- Provision and configure Azure networking, Key Vault, storage, Log Analytics, compute, backup, private endpoints, and policy assignments as code.
- Parameterize Terraform deployments across multiple environments and regions.
- Design and manage Terraform state, remote backends, state segmentation, locking, and provider configuration.
- Validate and test infrastructure code using terraform validate, terraform plan, tflint, and security scanning tools such as Checkov or tfsec.
- Support infrastructure CI/CD pipelines, including plan and apply stages, approval gates, secrets handling, and drift detection.
- Use Git feature branches, pull requests, code reviews, and documented module standards.
- Write supporting automation in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Troubleshoot deployment failures, state issues, and infrastructure drift.
- Act as the engagement’s hands-on Terraform subject-matter expert, review code, set standards, and mentor engineers.
- Contribute reusable Terraform modules and infrastructure patterns to the practice library.
Requirements
- 6–10 years of overall experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or infrastructure automation, with a substantial recent focus on Microsoft Azure.
- Strong hands-on Terraform and HCL experience, including modules, variables, locals, dynamic blocks, outputs, dependencies, and provider management.
- Demonstrated experience building and testing reusable Terraform modules.
- Experience building Azure landing zone components aligned with Cloud Adoption Framework patterns.
- Hands-on experience with Azure networking, Key Vault, storage, Log Analytics, policy assignments, compute, and identity.
- Experience parameterizing code across multiple environments and regions and managing Terraform state at scale.
- Familiarity with terraform validate, terraform plan, tflint, and Checkov or tfsec.
- Experience with Git branches, pull requests, code review, and module documentation.
- Clear communication with architects, engineers, and client technical teams.
- Preferred scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Preferred experience with Azure DevOps multi-stage YAML pipelines or GitHub Actions for Terraform CI/CD.
- Preferred experience with service connections, workload identity federation, secure Terraform state backends, release management, artifact management, agent pools, drift detection, and platform monitoring.
- Preferred certifications include HashiCorp Terraform Associate, AZ-104, AZ-400, or AZ-305.
- Preferred experience with Azure Landing Zone accelerators, Terraform ALZ modules, or Enterprise-Scale.
- Exposure to Bicep, ARM, AWS providers, or GCP providers is desirable.
- Experience in a global delivery or systems-integration environment is desirable.
