Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate reliable, scalable APIs and services in Python with Django and Django REST Framework.
- Lead architectural changes including data modeling improvements, service boundaries, messaging patterns, and zero-downtime migrations.
- Collaborate with DevOps on pipelines and infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests to support code quality and system reliability.
- Collaborate with frontend, mobile, UX, and product teams to negotiate APIs and improve user and developer outcomes.
- Mentor engineers through feedback, pairing, and design reviews.
- Contribute to engineering knowledge sharing through talks and documentation.
- Improve observability, profiling, tracing, alerting, and regression prevention.
Requirements
- Expert-level Python experience with Django and Django REST Framework.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design and versioning.
- Strong SQL and PostgreSQL expertise, including performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and schema evolution.
- Experience building resilient asynchronous systems with Celery and message brokers such as RabbitMQ.
- Practical experience with Redis caching, including eviction policies and cache-aside patterns.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitHub Actions, including canary delivery and feature flags.
- Experience with observability practices including SLIs, SLOs, actionable alerts, and trace-to-log correlation.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, initiative, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
