Responsibilities
- Design, build, and support scalable Java microservices and user interfaces for Disney’s advertising platform.
- Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering teams to deliver user-centric advertising features.
- Translate user stories into engineering tasks and own work from development through deployment.
- Mentor teammates through code reviews, documentation, and informal guidance without direct reports.
- Implement metrics, monitoring, and alerting to improve system observability and participate in on-call rotations.
- Champion code quality, automated testing, agile workflows, and responsible use of AI tools.
Requirements
- Requires 9–12 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Requires proficiency with Java and related frameworks such as Spring Boot and ORMs.
- Requires experience with ReactJS or modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue or Angular.
- Requires strong relational database experience with MySQL or Postgres, including schema and query design.
- Requires experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms.
- Requires strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Preferred qualifications include ad tech, programmatic advertising or real-time bidding experience; AWS; Terraform, Docker, or Kubernetes; and Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or SNS/SQS.
- A BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
